With the declaration of Rogers' new unlimited information plans, Canadians are excited. It comes equally no surprise, considering how expensive data services have been for the last number of years. However, in that location are some crucial questions most the new service, leaving some skeptical consumers with doubts.

Plus, nearly all the 'Learn more' links on the page bring y'all back to the same Rogers Infinite page. Some have noted that the Rogers Infinite plans don't include calling or texting services, suggesting those would come at an additional toll on superlative of the data portion of the plan.

However, a Rogers spokesperson toldMobileSyrupthat the Infinite plans will include unlimited Canada-wide calling and unlimited text, picture and video messaging from Canada to Canadian numbers.

Liberty Mobile, which also offers unlimited plans with a speed reduction later on a certain amount of usage, also throttles to 256Kbps for downloads. However, Liberty'due south uploads are slower at 128Kbps, or 2G speed.

It's worth noting that what actually constitutes 3G speed is up for debate. Generally, speeds of 200Kbps or higher are considered 3G, although according to PC Magazine, 3G can range from 144Kbps to 400Kbps or higher depending on the 3G engineering in use. Further, the International Telecoms Union (ITU), which set the IMT-2000 standard for 3G, defines information technology as a minimum speed of 2Mbps when walking and 348Kbps when in a vehicle.

U.S. carriers, which also offer similar unlimited plans, throttle every bit well. T-Mobile, for example, reduces speed to 2G after a user passes their high-speed allocation for that billing cycle. Many of the U.Southward. carriers too reduce speeds based on the activity — for example, users who tether data to another will become slower data.
